Eating around the world,
I find culinary constants.
Flatbreads, Mexican tortillas,
Ethiopian injera,
Taiwanese scallion pancakes,
Pakistani naan.
Noodles almost everywhere.
Hand-torn,
dumpling tender,
kneading on a wooden board,
just the right chew.
Some things really are
universal.

YUM! This is a delicious found poem. The idea of culinary constants is fascinating, isn’t it? I recently read a book called “What We Talk About When We Talk About Dumplings” that has stories of dumplings from many cultures. I found it really interesting!

Beth, your poem is delicious! The second stanza sounds like it is full of QQiness that VIvian wrote about here https://learnwithvivian.com/2024/03/21/qq/

Comfort food is definitely universal. I love that you used the Milk Street Magazine as the source to your poem. I’ll take some warm flatbread and olive oil now, please. Well done!
