keep pups indoors,
stretched out
on a blue-patterned rug.
A lazy feeling
coats the late afternoon hours
as the wet afternoon
shifts to evening.
Bounty for the grass,
gardens,
trees,
the rain
brings a welcome stillness
at the day’s end.
