The human body is a miraculous invention,
thousands of minuscule parts working in harmony
to move, breathe, love and reason.
The wonder of it all
is especially apparent
when one small piece collapses
or wears away —
after all the human body
is flesh, bone and blood.
But,
wrapped within the
protective wall of bone
is an even more extraordinary element, the brain.
For it is the brain that ponders
and experiments
and wakes us in the middle of the night
for a solution to the part that needs repair.
What a true wonder
the human specimen is.
It surely, surely is! And so often we take it for granted!

So true! We remember this best when one part isn’t working well. But we should celebrate all the times this “miraculous invention” is doing things just right! Great ideas here!

Thank you for this…so many connections here… too many to list in this comment but let if suffice to say that there is wonder and mystery and beauty in the human species.

I agree with Leah. The golden lines for me were: “and wakes us in the middle of the night
for a solution to the part that needs repair.”

I know the human body has been on your mind lots. I especially like your spine image. Such wonderment and awe. Grateful for neurologist who study so when repairs are needed, a solution is viable.
